Overview of networking modes

Nokia WiFi Beacons work in route mode by default (for most configurations). You can change this to bridge mode in the advanced settings of the Nokia Wifi mobile app.

When you use a Nokia WiFi Beacon in bridge mode, you get an IP address from your 3rd party router. (When you’re in route mode, your IP address comes from the Nokia WiFi Beacon).

Bridge mode supports both WiFi and Ethernet backhaul (that’s the connection between your WiFi Beacons). To set up an Ethernet backhaul connection in bridge mode, connect Ethernet cables into your Beacons as shown in this diagram (the LAN to WAN connection).
